The Giants of the Pyrenees - July 2012
Following the exciting 2 stages of the Etape du Tour in 2011, this amazing event returns to the Pyrenees with a tough challenge taking in 4 classic cols including the mighty Aubisque and the mythical Tourmalet. This years event stretches over 195km of classical Le Tour territory, and with almost 5500 metres of ascent the finish in Bagneres de Luchon will be a welcome sight.

2012 L'Etape du Tour weekend

Once again L'etape du tour will feature both an Alpine and Pyrénéenne stage.

For those not wishing to pay the high prices of the fully organised packages, Peak Times are running our own Etape Weekend for those who are able to register independently.

Entries for the 2012 event will be available online from 1200 on Tuesday 17th November

With only limited places available we will also be running a number of L'etape Recon mini-breaks in late May, June and early July where riders can check out the full route during two days of riding to help prepare for this mighty Pyrénéenne challenge.

Our programme of recon mini-breaks will link with flights to and from Manchester, London Stansted, Gatwick and Bristol each for a maximum of 8 participants.

	L'Etape Du Tour Weekend 2012: - FULL

Itinerary

Thursday 12th: Arrival Toulouse (PM), collect bikes and transfer to Villa Portillon. Once settled into your rooms you will have time to assemble your bikes prior to your evening meal.

Friday 13th: After a hearty breakfast there will be time for a morning spin to check out your bikes before our drive to PAU and the Mondovelo village to register and collect your dossards spending time to enjoy the village atmosphere before driving back to Luchon along the route, returning to Villa Portillon for your evening meal.

Saturday 14th: Early breakfast and early departure to ensure that we arrive in Pau in good time to enter the cages at the depart. Generally the Gendarmes will block roads close to the departure point therefore we will drop off at a point where you can cycle to the start.

Arrival Luchon: The finish is only a short distance from Villa Portillon where chilled drinks including a celebratory glass of champagne will be available.

Etape BBQ: Once fully refreshed we will enjoy our traditional event BBQ with beer and wine included. And for those that wish to join us we will finish the evening at Luchon's July 14th Fireworks spectacular.

Sunday 15th: After a late breakfast you will have ample time to re-pack your bikes before our early afternoon transfer back to Toulouse departing Luchon at 1300.

With only limited places (maximum 8) each Etape Recon will be an opportunity to check out the full route over two fully supported days.

Day 1: Pau - Aubisque - Tourmalet

Day 2: Campan - Aspin - Peyresourde - Luchon

This fully supported programme will have a regional theme, with dates set to tie in with flights from Bristol, Manchester, London Stansted and London Gatwick.
